Lagarde made this comment in an exclusive interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN) in Washington D.C., when asked about her views on the Belt and Road initiative, which promises inclusive growth for everyone involved.
"I think the vision is fascinating, the project is clearly embracing, I mean there are many followers, there are many countries that have agreed to join and be part of the project. “
"I think it is still probably a bit short on the deliverable side and should certainly be supported by policy, by frame works, by not just the ambition to invest in particular countries, but the ambition to structure also in those countries a sustainable growth and to deliver on this inclusiveness that has been identified," said Lagarde.
Lagarde believes that with a solid foundation rooted in policy and thorough frameworks, China's vision could practically help other countries to develop economically.
