Small businesses use AGOA Forum to explore new opportunities
The Africa Growth and Opportunity Act (AGOA) Forum, which concludes on November 4 in Johannesburg, has been a platform for small business owners from the continent to explore new opportunities and markets.
The Forum is a trade and investment initiative between the United States and Sub-Saharan Africa that aims to promote resilient, sustainable, and inclusive economic growth and development. One of the exhibitors is Elizabeth Kamawu from Sheba Farms in Kenya, which produces organic honey and other products.
"I came to the AGOA Forum to showcase my products and look for export markets. Kenya has the potential to export to any part of the world, and I believe South Africa is a gateway for us.
I have met with potential buyers, partners, and contacts who have given me access to high-end shops where my products can sell. I hope to establish more partnerships and collaborations, not just for market access, but also for mutual learning and support," Kamawu said.
