Briefly describe you/your background?
My name is Sydney Katunga Phiri, I am a Senior Producer in the Programs Department, and a devout Seventh Day Adventist Christian. Since joining Channel Africa in 2000, I have been involved in the production and presenting of various programs including the production of 37 Degrees, Channeling Into Africa Our Story, Agro Africa and Our Heritage.
What’s your favourite day of the week and why?
Saturday is my favourite day, as I meet up with fellow brethren for worship.
Your Favourite weekend hang out?
Basonia Seventh Day Adventist Church, south of Johannesburg, South Africa.
What is your favourite form of relaxing?
Reading and watching weekend local South African and international soccer matches on TV.
What makes you laugh/smile?
Watching and listening to my daughter sing me songs especially in her mother tongue.
What is your favourite tourism destination?
Durban in South Africa
What or who inspires you?
The love of God; just being aware that His absence in any environment, feeds on hatred and gossip.
What does it mean to you to be a part of Channel Africa in this era?
Mixed perspectives, but always optimistic for the future...

Depends on the program.
Your most memorable radio moment?
Interviewing the former Zambian president, HE Kenneth Kaunda.
