National Land Conference
currently underway in the country's capital, Windhoek.
Namibian traditional authorities and civil society organisations have announced that they are boycotting the much-awaited National Land Conference, which is currently underway in the country's capital, Windhoek, in protest at what they call the government's "lack of consultation and omitting land movements from attending the indaba."
President Hage Geingob has urged citizens to take part in the debate over mooted land reforms, including the expropriation of land, in order to avoid chaos.
The Southern African country is holding the conference this week, for discussion of policies that will accelerate its land reform programme. The debate comes as South Africa is considering plans to allow for expropriation of land without compensation.
