Rights and Resources Initiative

The Rights and Resources Initiative report says governments do not protect the property rights of indigenous and rural women in 30 countries containing three quarters of the developing world's forests. Stephanie Keene, tenure analysis at the Rights and Resources Initiative says this is as a result of the rural demographics shift, lack of protections for women's land rights that undermines efforts to empower indigenous peoples rights and local communities to conserve tropical forests and reduce poverty.
