SA prisons suicide rate on the rise
Suicides by mentally-ill inmates are on the increase at correctional centres in South Africa.
The Judicial Inspectorate for Correctional Services released its annual report in Pretoria on Thursday. According to the report, 75% of suicides were of a result of hanging.
Unnatural deaths due to gang violence have also increased, with the country's Gauteng province registering the highest increase.
