In a periodic update on cases of sexual misconduct by UN personnel around the world, the world body has revealed 44 new cases against in 2016 among which 29 were reported in the Central African Republic and 7 in the Democratic Republic of Congo, which includes three cases against South African troops serving there.
The UN has indicated that South Africa's decision to conduct on site court martials in the DRC against accused troops, represents 'best practice' for other troop contributing countries to emulate.
