THE AFRICAN PERSPECTIVE WAY
Since its launch on 3rd October 2018, SABC News’ Current Affairs programme African Perspective has been noticeably effective in representing the African continent through compelling and credible news offering.
In its efforts to provide a rich kaleidoscopic overview of Africa and its countries, the evening programme established a collaboration with Channel Africa to cross-promote each other’s brands with a common ground: to provide both their audiences with quality News/information the African Perspective way.
Found on shortwave, satellite, DSTV802 and Internet radio platforms, Channel Africa is an international radio service of the SABC focusing on continental and international broadcasting. The radio station broadcasts news, cultural, sports and public affairs programming in Chinyanja, Silozi, Kiswahili, English, French and Portuguese languages. Through Satellite broadcast, Channel Africa covers the sub-Saharan region although it can be picked as far as London and Moscow. Shortwave broadcast covers the south, east, central and West Africa, which is also where SABC News Channel reaches.
Commenting on the collaboration, the Executive Producer of African Perspective Ms. Sophie Mokoena emphasized "the importance of breaking silos among SABC platforms and enforcing a transversal approach of working together for the SABC’s overall benefit".
