The African Arty Beats

The African Arty Bits is a weekly wrap up African arts and entertainment news exclusive to Channel Africa's current Affairs, Africa Digest on Fridays at 19:00. This segment previews and reviews African arts news, from all corners of the African Diaspora whether fine art, music, craft and film. Thuto Ngobeni, as usual, gives us African Art Headlines from all parts of the world exclusive to Channel Africa, the African Perspective.

In The Programme This Week:

  • Sounds from Africa, a live stream concert series launched in June  will be delivering music from across the African continent to the global audience. The concert series will see artists playing their part in the concert which not only aims to entertain, but to also support efforts to promote economic and social development in Africa through proceeds. This  will be the first regular live stream concert series with a pan-continental scope to emerge from the African continent.

 

  • The series offers a diverse and culturally rich array of musical stylings and genres from across 17 African countries to new audiences around the world. Recognizable names like Mokoomba of Zimbabwe and South African Vusi Mahlasela, are interspersed with developing artists from across 17 countries in this new curated programming effort from Cultural Connections Africa  or CCA and their partner organizations. The series is produced by CCA network member Brad Holmes of Bassline Festival, in South Africa  and Mushroom Productions also South Africa in cooperation with other partners.

 

  • Angolans Paulo Flores and A'mosi Just A Label  will perform on July the 27th. South African award winning musician Nakhane TourĂ©, performed during the second event of the four - part serier  from his home in London, England . He spoke to Channel Africa's Mosibudi Makhura.
