The African Arty Beats

The African Arty Bits is a weekly wrap up African arts and entertainment news exclusive to Channel Africa's current Affairs, Africa Digest on Fridays at 19:00. This segment previews and reviews African arts news, from all corners of the African Diaspora whether fine art, music, craft and film. Thuto Ngobeni, as usual, gives us African Art Headlines from all parts of the world exclusive to Channel Africa, the African Perspective.

In The Programme This Week:

  • South African versatile songbird and heritage practitioner, Mbuso Khoza, will be returning to the State Theatre in Pretoria to present a two-day spectacle  at the end of this month, that is part of his Folktour which launches in Durban, in the KwaZulu Natal province on October 25.
  • Heritage enthusiasts and curious music lovers will be treated to an evening of beautiful songs and stories about heritage and culture.
  • Bringing this music and story-telling to live, Khoza will be performing with Tlale Makhene on percussions, Bongani Masina on Bass, Gabriel Stuurman on  Keys, Sam Ibe on drums and The Slash Horns.
  • Nandi Mzobe will also be featured on the night. Patrons can expect soothing sounds and melodies which are carefully intended to make a statement that music heals, and that even though the world is still battling the COVID-19 pandemic, those who are alive can find solace in music, and with knowing and  embracing your roots you are armed with the greatest weapon.
