Africa News Round Up

Each week, Channel Africa’s Khumbelo Munzhelele rounds up the news that would have made more headlines.

In the Progamme this Week:

  • * Belgium's Prime Minister Charles Michel apologizes for the role his country played in the kidnapping of mixed race children from Burundi, Democratic Republic of Congo and Rwanda during the colonial era.

    * South Africa’s Foreign Policy Expert, Dr David Monyae, says there are hard lessons to be learned from the political crisis in Algeria, which saw President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s two decades rule come to an end.

Sudan's President, Omar Al-Bashir, steps down after months of anti-government protests against his three-decade rule.

And, the United Nations Secretary-General, Antonio Guterres, calls for a ceasefire in Libya, warning that in the absence of such there could be a bloody battle for the capital, Tripoli.
