Testifying before the Madlanga Commission, Khumalo revealed that the group, known as the Big Five Cartel, runs syndicates across the country, with its headquarters in Gauteng province. He named prominent figures, including Vusumuzi “Cat” Matlala and Katiso Molefe, as members.
Khumalo warned that the cartel has already penetrated politics, with documented cases of high-profile connections and senior politicians accused of either being complicit or willfully blind to its operations.
