The health Minister was responding to the Special Investigating Unit’s report into corruption and maladministration at the Thembisa hospital. The SIU says about $15 million have been lost to tender irregularities and fraud at Thembisa hospital, and this could escalate as investigations continue. Motsoaledi says government must also clean up its own house.
“These syndicates mentioned here, whether its Maumela, Mazibuko or Cat Matlala or X. even with their infinite wisdom or thuggery, they could have not achieved what they did without the cooperation and participation of government officials,” Motsoaledi said.
