DRC coalition to hold Paris conference on crisis solutions

As the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) faces escalating political and security tensions, the Popular Coalition has announced plans to convene a major dialogue aimed at finding solutions to the country’s ongoing crisis.

The event, titled the Conference of Patriotic Recommendations, is scheduled to take place on October 12 in Paris, France. It will bring together Congolese citizens, political actors, and members of the diaspora to exchange ideas on how to chart a path towards peace and national unity.

Dr Kavuo Tahuhana, Spokesperson for the conference’s preparatory committee, said the initiative seeks to give ordinary Congolese a voice in shaping the country’s political future.

“This conference is about reclaiming ownership of our destiny as Congolese,” Kavuo said. “We want to create a space where all concerned citizens can freely discuss and propose realistic solutions to end the crisis and rebuild our nation.”

He added that the meeting would result in a set of “patriotic recommendations” to be shared with national authorities and international partners supporting peace efforts in the DRC.

The announcement comes as the country continues to grapple with instability in its eastern provinces, political divisions ahead of local elections, and strained relations with neighbouring Rwanda.
