Key mediators to the Gaza ceasefire agreement have penned their signatures to a document endorsing the plan during a peace summit of world leaders in Egypt’s resort town of Sharm El-Sheikh.
The leaders of the United States (US), Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye were joined by others in Egypt hours after all the living Israeli hostages were released from Gaza in exchange for hundreds of Palestinian prisoners and detainees, as US President Donald Trump announced that the war in Gaza was over.
The United Nations Secretary-General, who is also in Egypt, hailed the mediation efforts.
He also acknowledged the indispensable role of the International Committee of the Red Cross in facilitating the releases in both a safe and humane manner.
