Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) has put out a tender for media rights covering the next two men’s World Cups in nine European countries.
The rights include the 2026 tournament in the United States, Canada, and Mexico, and the 2030 event, which will be primarily hosted by Spain, Portugal, and Morocco.
The 2026 World Cup will feature a record 48 teams, with 16 from Europe, playing across 104 matches. The 2030 edition will see Argentina, Uruguay, and Paraguay host one match each to mark 100 years since the first World Cup in Uruguay.
The tender applies to Armenia, Azerbaijan, Estonia, Georgia, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, Malta, and Ukraine, none of which qualified for the 2018 or 2022 tournaments. In 2022, public-service broadcasters in these countries carried the event under a major agreement with the European Broadcasting Union.
A previous tender in Hong Kong earlier this year covered rights for the 2026 men’s World Cup and the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil.
