Mchunu has told Parliament’s Ad Hoc Committee investigating allegations of criminal infiltration, corruption and political interference in the justice system that his decision was in line with the laws created by Parliament. Mchunu says there was nothing untoward in his decision to scrap the PKTT.
“Not some people somewhere. Not a certain grouping of people called public representatives or councillors or those who are political. You now have a new direction-a new political imperatives that says protect all people of SA. Make them feel safe. In fact it is in line with the constitution of the republic. The constitution of the republic does not allow you to protect some and not others,” he said.
