SABC Sport has learnt that the legal representative of suspended Netball South Africa (NSA) President Cecilia Molokwane has submitted a letter to the federation’s executive, asserting her eligibility to contest in the upcoming elections.
Molokwane was suspended by World Netball on April 15 and was ordered to step down from all netball-related activities pending an investigation into alleged misconduct and mismanagement of Netball SA funds.
In an exclusive interview with the public broadcaster, Molokwane confirmed that the letter had been handed to NSA executives, emphasising that she remains a member in good standing under the NSA constitution. She argued that this status makes her eligible to participate in the forthcoming elections, despite her suspension by the sport’s global governing body.
