Nigeria’s Under-17 women’s national football team, the Flamingos, have touched down in Casablanca as they ramp up preparations for next month’s FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Morocco.
The team and their officials arrived after a smooth four-hour and 20-minute flight from Abuja and are now based at the Ibis Hotel in Casablanca. Coach Bankole Olowookere’s squad is scheduled for a light training session later this evening.
As part of their build-up, the Flamingos will play two friendly matches, against New Zealand on Friday and Paraguay next Tuesday, ahead of their Group C campaign. Nigeria will face France, Canada, and Samoa in the group stage.
The team is looking to build momentum and fine-tune their strategies ahead of the prestigious tournament.
