SA’s Port of East London begins long-awaited $8 million redevelopment project

The $8 million construction project aims to revitalize the original marine structure and stimulate economic growth while also creating much-needed job opportunities. The tourism and local business sectors around Latimer’s Landing are poised to benefit significantly from the revitalised marine yard. According to Port of East London Manager, Dr. Simphiwe Mthembu, the revitalisation project, will enhance the Port’s competitiveness with international standards.
 “This development charts a new course for Eastern Cape economy by supporting value add industry such as tourism and is in line with the business strategic objective to support the Port of East London as a key role player in the tourism sector within the Province,” he said.
