Novak Djokovic is on track for a fifth Shanghai Masters title after defeating Zizou Bergs 6-3, 7-5 in yesterday’s quarter-final. The Serbian last won the tournament in 2018.
Djokovic secured the only break of the opening set in the sixth game. Bergs saved five set points on his own serve in the eighth game, but Djokovic closed out the set in the next. In the second set, Bergs saved two match points in the 12th game, but Djokovic sealed victory on his third opportunity after an hour and 52 minutes of play.
The win puts Djokovic into the semi-finals, where he will face world number 204, Valentin Vacherot.
