Police Spokesperson, Thenjiswa Ngcobo, says two men would overpower their victims in the areas of KwaDukuza, oThongathi and Mandeni, rape them and then rob them.
The 9 incidents happened between 2013 and 2016. In one case a woman was walking with her mother-in-law along a sugarcane field when they were attacked.
Ngcobo says the police were looking for the two suspects and located the 36-year-old man hiding in a forest near KwaDukuza.
