Kenyan President William Ruto has praised the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga‘s legacy of inclusion and political tolerance. Odinga has been accorded a state funeral in Nairobi.
He died on Wednesday, aged 80, while receiving medical treatment in India.
Odinga, who ran for President five times, has been hailed as a towering figure in Kenyan politics.
Kenya bid farewell to one of the pre-eminent figures in the country’s politics.
Raila Odinga was known for his role on opposition benches, power-sharing agreements and concerted efforts to calm post-election tensions in the East African country.
