Three witnesses are expected to testify before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in Pretoria, South Africa (SA), this week. Proceedings will be partially heard in camera from today until Wednesday.
The witnesses’ testimonies are expected to relate to their experiences as detectives investigating criminal cartels.
Proceedings are continuing in line with a ruling handed down by Chairperson Justice Mbuyiseli Madlanga last week.
Justice Madlanga ruled that this week’s witnesses will testify via audio from a remote location. This arrangement follows an agreement reached between media houses Daily Maverick and Media24, and the Commission’s evidence leaders.
Last week, Witness X, who was testifying remotely through an intermediary experienced technical challenges believed to have compromised their safety.
