SA to maintain its safety record in the skies

The South African (SA) Civil Aviation Authority says it’s important for the country to maintain its safety record in the skies.

The warning comes amid ongoing disruptions that have impacted several local airlines, including Airlink.

The disruptions have been caused by the Air Traffic and Navigation Services delays to renew essential flight procedures at a number of airports.

Transport Minister Barbara Creecy has expressed serious concern, especially as the latest issues come during a turnaround process at the struggling entity.

The 2025 National Aviation Gender Summit takes place when the aviation industry is experiencing air traffic challenges attributed to developments at the Air Traffic and Navigation Services.

Affected airports include Kruger Mpumalanga Province, International Airport, Pietermaritzburg and Richards Bay, in KwaZulu-Natal Province, Polokwane Gateway Airport, in Limpopo Province and Mthatha Airport in Eastern Cape.
