Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has called on citizens to reaffirm their commitment to peace and unity

Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema has called on citizens to reaffirm their commitment to peace and unity as the nation celebrates its 61st Independence Anniversary today.

In a televised address, Hichilema pointed out that independence should not be viewed as the conclusion of the nation’s journey, but rather as the beginning of the continuous effort to combat poverty, inequality, and underdevelopment.

“As we mark 61 years of our independence, let us remember that our work is far from over. True freedom comes with responsibility, the responsibility to build a nation that offers opportunities and prosperity for all,” Hichilema said.
