Cedric Kaze, Co-Coach of Kaizer Chiefs, is keeping his focus despite the mixed reactions to his recent promotion alongside Khalil Ben Youssef as joint head coaches of one of South Africa’s most high-profile football clubs.
The pair stepped up a few weeks ago after the club parted ways with Nasreddine Nabi, who had originally brought them in as assistants. While some fans and commentators have questioned the move, Kaze says he is concentrating on continuity and performance rather than outside noise.
“The first thing is continuity. In the recent games, we’ve been strong both offensively and defensively. The players believe in what we are building, and everyone here is optimistic about the path ahead,” Kaze said.
With coaching experience at the Burundian national team and Tanzanian side Yanga, Kaze is undeterred by criticism. He points to the broader challenge African coaches face in gaining respect compared to their European counterparts, but he remains confident in his and Ben Youssef’s ability to deliver results for Chiefs.
