The removal of SA from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) greylist could ease international transactions

The removal of South Africa (SA) from the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) greylist could ease international transactions that had previously been steep and complicated, fintech experts say.

Verto, a cross-border payments company, welcomed the development, noting it could help lower borrowing costs, attract foreign investment, and improve access to global banking channels.

“For us, it’s not just about compliance it’s about reputation and a credibility boost for SA’s economy,” said James Booth, Verto Spokesperson. “That said, authorities stress that momentum must continue and South Africa needs to prevent any backsliding.”

The delisting follows SA’s full compliance with global anti-money laundering standards and is expected to strengthen the country’s integration into global financial markets.
