She was addressing an audience at Die Groote Kerk in Cape Town at the weekend. The gathering followed the annual Nelson Mandela Lecture she delivered on Saturday. Albanese said that any returning South African who fought with the IDF, should be treated as a suspect and subsequently convicted by government for joining Israel’s ongoing war on Palestine.
“the other thing is, do you have nationals that have been fighting in the Israeli army? okay, so what happens when they come back? they need to be considered suspect, so the police needs to investigate them. If there is evidence that they have committed crimes, if there is evidence that they have committed crimes, they have to be prosecuted and the judges conclude that they have committed crimes, they have to be convicted,” she said.
