The Rwanda Football Federation (Ferwafa) has suspended three referees, including international official Claude “Cucuri” Ishimwe, following mistakes during recent Rwanda Premier League matches.
The refereeing panel, which also includes Eric Mugabo and Emmanuel Habumugisha, was penalised after a review by Ferwafa’s refereeing commission highlighted errors in their officiating.
Ishimwe and Mugabo were assigned to the APR FC versus Mukura Victory Sports match, which ended 1-0 in favour of APR. As the centre referee, Ishimwe was handed a two-week suspension for failing to issue a second yellow card to APR defender Clement Niyigena after a foul on Zubair Hakizimana , an action that should have led to a red card.
Ferwafa said the move underscores its commitment to improving officiating standards in Rwanda’s top-flight football and warned that similar lapses in the future would attract strict disciplinary measures.
