South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa has been awarded an Honorary Doctorate in International Relations by Universiti Malaya in Kuala Lumpur. The recognition celebrates SA’s role in advancing South-South co-operation and promoting a justice-centred approach to global diplomacy.
During his acceptance lecture, titled “South-South Diplomacy in the 21st Century: Malaysia and SA,” Ramaphosa reflected on the historic, economic and moral ties that continue to shape relations between the two nations.
He underscored the importance of collaboration among countries of the Global South in tackling shared challenges such as inequality, climate change, and global governance reform. The visit further strengthened bilateral relations between SA and Malaysia, marking a deepening of their long-standing partnership.
