Google to inject $2.85 million into SA AI skills development, education

Global technology giant, Google has announced a $2.85 million funding through Google.org to support Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills development, education, online safety and cybersecurity in South Africa (SA)

 

The announcement was made on Tuesday night at the opening of the AI Expo Africa at the Sandton Convention Centre, north of Johannesburg in SA. Kabelo Makwane, Country Director at Google SA says the company is committed to advancing the country.

“Today, we bring that continental commitment home and focus on the vital role SA plays in this vision. Following up on our announcement in July, we are proud to announce a further $210 million investment equivalent of almost 49 million.

Our rents and the funding commitment that’s coming from google.org, which is designed. Our local nonprofit organisations and academic organisations right here in SA,” he said.
