South Africa’s (SA) Proteas Women have been asked to bat first after losing the toss in their International Cricket Council Women’s World Cup semi-final against England at the Barsapara Stadium in Guwahati.
England stuck to their successful group-stage strategy, confident in their ability to restrict SA to a chaseable total, especially after their commanding 10-wicket win over the Proteas earlier in the tournament.
Proteas Captain Laura Wolvaardt acknowledged that her side would also have preferred to bowl first, given their strong record when chasing in the competition.
