Captain Refiloe Jane expressed her pride after leading South Africa’s Banyana Banyana to qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).
The reigning African champions edged the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) 1-0 in the second leg at Dobsonville Stadium, winning 2-1 on aggregate.
Jane said the team showed great determination to achieve their main goal despite facing strong opposition. “It was a difficult game to play against DRC, even in the first leg it was tough. We could have won the game in the first half but missed the chances we created, something we need to work on. In the end, we’re happy we got the goal and qualified for WAFCON,” she said.
She added that maintaining composure and focus throughout both legs was key to ensuring Banyana stayed on course for continental success.
