The process is underway, with thousands of applicants currently completing the first phase which is the psychometric and integrity testing.
The multi-phase selection process also includes a physical fitness evaluation, vetting, and a medical examination to ensure that the most suitable candidates are chosen. In July this year, the SAPS received over a million applications of which more than three hundred thousand hold qualifications in policing, law, forensic investigation, and other relevant fields.
The SAPS says preference will be given to applicants who possess a tertiary qualification. Police Spokesperson, lieutenant, Amanda van Wyk says the training process expected to commence in 2026.
” We advise all applicants who have applied to remain patient as recruitment teams will communicate with suitable applicants. Training is expected to commence in 2026, with the exact date to be confirmed in due course,” she said.
