The imminent visit of FIFA President Gianni Infantino to Botswana on November 10 and 11 marks a significant moment for the country’s football ambitions.
According to Botswana Football Association (BFA) President Tariq Babitseng, the visit represents more than a courtesy call, it is “a strong vote of confidence in Botswana’s football leadership” and a chance to explore strategic partnerships for the sport’s growth.
Babitseng said Infantino’s trip follows a series of high-level engagements initiated after he assumed the BFA Presidency, aimed at strengthening collaboration between the national association and world football’s governing body.
He added that the BFA hopes to host a FIFA youth development programme as a pilot project in Botswana, noting that such initiatives require coordinated support from national stakeholders to succeed.
Infantino’s visit is expected to include meetings with government officials, football administrators and development partners, underscoring FIFA’s commitment to expanding grassroots football across Africa.
