Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan is set to commence her second term following an election marred by violence and rejected by opposition parties as illegitimate.
The inauguration is taking place at a military parade ground in Dodoma, the capital, in a ceremony closed to the public but broadcast live by the state-run TBC.
Samia was declared the winner on Saturday with 98% of the vote, in a contest where most opposition figures were either barred from running or held in detention.
The new term begins amid heightened political tension, as critics warn that continued suppression of dissent could deepen instability across the country.
