The Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) is facing a parliamentary probe over allegations of misusing more than $25 million in developmental grants received from FIFA and CAF between 2015 and 2025.
Federal lawmakers initiated the investigation amid growing public concern and the noticeable decline in the performance of Nigeria’s national football teams at most levels, except for the Super Falcons.
During a House of Representatives session, Federal Representative Adedayo Olumuyiwa moved the motion, questioning the lack of development in the sport despite substantial funding:
“There has been a significant absence of visible improvement or grassroots growth in Nigerian football, despite these massive financial interventions,” he argued.
The probe is expected to shed light on financial accountability within the NFF and address systemic issues affecting football development in the country.
