The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has appointed Romanian coach Marian ‘Mario’ Marinica as the new head coach of the Warriors, the country’s senior men’s national football team, on a one-year deal.
Marinica, 60, comes with more than 25 years of coaching experience and holds a UEFA Pro License. He has previously managed the national teams of Malawi and Liberia, bringing valuable international expertise to the role.
He will take over from Michael Nees, who was dismissed last month following a series of disappointing results. Marinica is set to begin work this month, with his first assignments being friendly matches against Qatar and Algeria as he starts preparations for the team’s upcoming campaigns.
