The organisers of the Soweto Marathon have announced new starting times for the People’s Race, scheduled for November 29 at Nasrec Johannesburg in South Africa.
Traditionally held on a Sunday to avoid traffic, this year’s marathon falls on a busy month-end Saturday, prompting the adjustments. All three races, the 10km, 21.1km, and full marathon (42.2km), will now start 30 minutes earlier to accommodate the expected activity in Soweto.
“The marathon will start at 05:00 CAT, the half marathon at 6:00 CAT, and the 10km race at 7:00 CAT. This year, we are also going to enforce the cut-off times,” said Jabu Mbuli, Spokesperson for the Soweto Marathon NPC.
The organisers are urging participants to arrive early and plan their travel accordingly to ensure a smooth race day experience.
