The City of Johannesburg Emergency Management Services (EMS) is urging residents to exercise caution following a yellow level two warning issued by the South African Weather Services.
The thunderstorms may bring heavy rain and flash floods, especially in low-lying areas and places near rivers and streams.
Johannesburg EMS Spokesperson, Robert Mulaudzi says they remain high alert and they urge all motorists, residents and church groups to stay away from flooded roads and river streams.
“The City of Johannesburg EMS remain on high alert, monitoring all seven regions of the City for any emergincies which might occur together with specialised units that responds to water related emergencies.”
In a statement the City of Tshwane also urges the community to remain alert during severe thunderstorms ,
“The City of Tshwane Emergency Services has received a warning through South African Weather Service to warn communities to be cautious following a Yellow Level 2 severe thunderstorms on Friday , November 7 2025. Severe thunderstorms are expected to start in the afternoon around 12:00 until 02:59AM with 60% of rain occurring.”
