Two Kenyan activists, Bob Njagi and Nicholas Oyoo, who had been missing in Uganda for more than a month, have been released and returned safely to Kenya.
Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni confirmed their arrest, stating they were detained for allegedly collaborating with opposition leader Bobi Wine’s group to incite unrest. The Ugandan government had previously denied holding the activists, but Museveni acknowledged their involvement with Kyagulanyi’s organisation.
The incident has sparked concern over human rights and cross-border activism. Analyst Dennis Beru noted that Kenyans were shocked by the news of the detention and the circumstances surrounding it.
The activists’ release was confirmed on Saturday, bringing relief to their families and supporters after weeks of uncertainty.
