Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote has struck a series of new agreements with the Zimbabwean government

Nigerian business magnate Aliko Dangote has struck a series of new agreements with the Zimbabwean government after travelling to the country at the invitation of President Emmerson Mnangagwa.

Dangote, whose wealth is estimated at around $25 billion, arrived in Harare on Wednesday to revisit opportunities in Zimbabwe’s cement and energy sectors. His latest trip comes almost a decade after a similar investment plan in 2015 stalled before it could be implemented.

Officials say the new commitments include the development of a petroleum pipeline linking Zimbabwe and Namibia, along with plans for new cement and fertiliser plants. Government sources note that the projects are expected to support Zimbabwe’s industrial recovery efforts and strengthen regional energy links.

More details on the rollout of the agreements are expected to be released in the coming weeks.
