New witness to testify at SA probe into police corruption

A new witness will appear before the Madlanga Commission of Inquiry in the South African (SA) capital of Pretoria this morning
Last week, witnesses concluded their evidence on the East of Johannesburg Metro Police Department. They focused on suspended Deputy Police Chief,  Julius Mkhwanazi’s unlawfully authorisation of the fitting of blue lights on vehicles of alleged cartel member, Vusimuzi “Cat” Matlala. The commission is tasked to investigate KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi’s allegations of corruption among senior police officials. The witnesses also detailed how officers allegedly aided criminal elements to infiltrate their units.
Witnesses have testified how those working in law enforcement agencies have allegedly assisted individuals believed to be linked to criminal syndicates, infiltrate law enforcement agencies. This includes the unlawful fitting of blue lights in private vehicles belonging to alleged criminal syndicate member, Matlala. The commission has also heard how top police officials allegedly tried to interfere in investigations involving Katiso “KT” Molefe. He’s another member believed to be part of the criminal cartel. The new witness is expected to expound on allegations investigated in the Commisison.
