Speaking at the G20 Ministers’ Breakfast in Johannesburg on Monday morning, South African Minister of International Relations and Co-operation Ronald Lamola said Africa must be a key beneficiary of the global industrial revolution currently underway.
Lamola highlighted that the continent holds 30% of the world’s mineral resources, making it essential for Africa to play a leading role in beneficiation at source.
He described this as a unique opportunity for Africa to build a bridge between the Global North and Global South, attracting investment for local manufacturing, beneficiation, and disaster management initiatives.
He reassured the delegates that some green shoots are emerging in the network industries on the domestic front.
