South African (SA) President Cyril Ramaphosa, who currently chairs the G20, has declared the country’s G20 Social Summit as the most successful to date.
Delivering the closing address in Boksburg, ahead of the leadership summit this weekend, Ramaphosa said beautiful things are happening in SA, urging citizens to take pride in this historic moment.
He drew parallels with historic assemblies such as the Bandung Conference and the Kliptown meeting that adopted the Freedom Charter.
Ramaphosa emphasised that the summit has allowed people to speak for themselves rather than be spoken for.
