Calls to end Gender-Based Violence

More than 1000 people from all walks of life, united in their call to end Gender-Based Violence (GBV), have gathered at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, Gauteng Province, South Africa (SA).

Men and women, young and old, have come together to say enough is enough. Men who joined the movement say women need to be protected and not killed.

The nationwide shutdown is a show of solidarity, with people from all provinces taking part and using the G20 platform to raise awareness.

The protestors have called for the violence against women to stop.

“The women birthed us as men, built societies through that, it is something a man can never experience and if we are to harm people that bring life to us, what future do we have?” says Kamohelo Metsing

Another protestor, Kegan Raea says, “My question is why they violate women, men that violate women are not supposed to live in this society.”
