Namibia women’s national team defender Vewe Kotjipati has announced her retirement from international football, bringing an end to a career that began when she first featured for the Brave Gladiators as a teenager.
Kotjipati, 33, has spent more than ten years playing professionally in Germany, turning out for Arminia Bielefeld and Borussia Mönchengladbach II, and currently represents FC St. Pauli. She said she was grateful for the opportunities football had given her and confirmed she would now focus solely on her club commitments.
“I’ve been blessed to represent my country for so many years,” she said. “It’s the right time to step back from international football and concentrate on my club career, but I will always remain committed to supporting the growth of women’s football in Namibia.”
Alongside her playing career, Kotjipati also works as a teacher in Germany and hopes to use her experience to help develop young talent back home.
