The Spokesperson for South Africa’s (SA) Minister of International Relations and Co-operation, Chrispin Phiri, has confirmed that the United States (US) delegation is absent from the ongoing G20 Summit at the Nasrec Expo Centre in Johannesburg.

Speaking on the sidelines of the summit, Phiri said SA has also rejected the US proposal for President Cyril Ramaphosa to hand over the G20 Presidency to its Acting Ambassador.

“They have indicated they will not be attending, and we have officially marked them absent,” Phiri told reporters.
