The Citrus Growers’ Association says it will closely monitor the G20 Leaders’ Summit, which President Cyril Ramaphosa will officially open at the Nasrec expo centre in Johannesburg, South Africa (SA).
Commercial farmers believe that the summit will help to create a conducive environment for the export of their produce.
The ones from provinces such as Limpopo and the Western Cape have packed more than 203 million cartons that have been delivered to global markets.
The association has also attributed the success of the previous season to favourable trade conditions that the government has facilitated.
“We want to tell the G20 of the success of this. This is the SA citrus industry, but there are a lot of links, a lot of people that made it possible. A lot of hard work, planning and commitments from the government’s side, from the port authorities, Minister of Transport it resulted in the fact that we have handled some much fruit,” said Charles Rossouw is the Chief Executive Officer of a farm in Groblersdal, Limpopo.
