Italy etched their name deeper into tennis history on Sunday, defeating Spain 2-0 in the Davis Cup final to claim the title for a third consecutive year  a feat not achieved by any nation in over half a century

Playing on home soil at Bologna’s Unipol Arena and without world No. 1 Jannik Sinner, who withdrew before the knockout stage to recover from a demanding season, Italy relied on experience and emerging talent to see off a Spanish side also missing Carlos Alcaraz.

The result marks Italy’s fourth Davis Cup title overall (1976, 2023, 2024, 2025) and their third straight success–the first three-peat since the United States won from 1968–1972 in the modern era.
